ABOUT DONNÉ
Born and raised in Welkom, South Africa, the city also known as ‘The
City Within A Garden’, Donné fell in love with playing the violin at the
age of four. Her obsession for perfection led to her practicing for
more than six hours a day to achieve what would eventually become her
life-long dream.
Everything about Donné is art, dance and music, however it didn’t take long for her to discover her ultimate passion and greatest talent, the violin.
At age five, Donné
started violin lessons with Marie-Jean Kotze and then at eleven years
old she started travelling to Cape Town to further her violin studies
under the tuition of Prof. Jack de Wet, arguably the greatest and most
influential figure in the South African string teaching community, who’s
methods, inspired by the scientific and systematic approach of Flesch,
the discipline of Galamian, and the philosophy of Suzuki, focuses on
balanced movement, rotary action, kinaesthetic awareness and
subconscious atomisation.
At sixteen, Donné travelled
internationally with the MIAGI Orchestra
as well as the Namibian
Symphony Orchestra. This kicked off her international orchestral
experience and she has since performed throughout Europe on multiple
orchestra tours, to this day. She has had the opportunity to perform in
halls such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Elbphilharmonie in
Hamburg and the Konzerthaus in Berlin, Germany, and at the Verbier
festival in Switzerland.
We all know the violin to be eloquent and
soulful, capable of creating beautiful classical
melodies.

Donné is a classically trained professional musician and now has over a decade of experience in solo, band and orchestral performance as well as teaching.
Donné is known for her fiery passion and charisma on and off the stage. She has been blowing audiences away since a young age with her musical prowess and versatility,
performing pieces and songs from a wide variety of genres such as classical, pop, rock and jazz, as well as adapting her versatile technique to master the electric violin, performing EDM and house tracks as well as many more current hits.
With the ability to play completely by ear, Donné draws her
inspiration from songs where the melody is independently able to
showcase the beauty of the sound of the violin and adds her own unique
touch and virtuosic elements. Donné offers brilliant performances of the
latest billboard hits as well as golden oldies. Some of her repertoire
includes tracks by artists such as Queen, Toto, Abba, ColdPlay, Adele,
Dua Lipa, Charlie Puth, Clean Bandit, Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd
amongst many others. She takes pride in being able to prepare her own
unique renditions of virtually any song at her client’s request.
Donné dazzles guests at top-end restaurants, clubs and VIP lounges,
beautifies wedding ceremonies, and creates unique atmospheres at
corporate events. She also performs at live concerts as well as
showcasing her classical professionalism with various orchestras
globally. She also has extensive experience in studio recording and her
music can be heard in many advertisements and television shows all over
the world.
Donné travels and performs as a soloist as well as
collaborating with various artists and DJs. She will take you on an
eclectic journey through her varietal musical influence, all derived
from her unique emotional style and technical wizardry.
